How To Auto Backup And Restore WordPress Website To Google Drive, To ensure the security of WordPress or any website, it is essential to keep our site backed up on time. Suppose your website is suddenly hacked, and there is no backup of your website. What do you do now? Again, you have to design a new site. You have to write a new post. It is a matter of time. In today’s post, I will learn how to automatically back up And Restore a WordPress Website To Google Drive.

We will use a plugin called WPvivid to backup and restore our WordPress website. This plugin is not used for WordPress website backup and restore. There is much more that can be done with this plugin. Such as backup, migration, Clone and migrate a copy of WP site to a new host (a new domain), schedule backups, send backups to leading remote storage, clean, unused images before backup and migration.

Login to the dashboard of your WordPress website to install the WPvivid plugin. Click Add New from Plugin Search WPvivid (By WPvivid Team) Click Install and Active.

Remote Storage settings

First, we need to set up Remote Storage settings because here, I will add my Google Drive and set how many times it will take automatic backup.

There are seven cloud storage options, including Google Drive. Since I will keep automatic backup through my Google Drive, I will select Google Drive. You can use whatever you like to your advantage.

After clicking Authenticate with Google Drive, you will be taken to the Sign-in page. Here, you will select the Google Drive you want to backup your website to. Remember not to Sign in with your primary Gmail if you need to open a new Gmail.

Backup and restore settings

You can see the three options in the backup and restore settings in the free version.

  • Database + Files (WordPress Files)
  • WordPress Files (Exclude Database)
  • Only Database

We will select Database + Files (WordPress Files) because we want to keep a backup of our entire website.

Selecting WordPress Files (Exclude Database) will only backup WordPress files. There will be no backup of the database.

If you select Only Database, you will only have a backup of the Database. There will be no backup of the WordPress file.

Select Send Backup to Remote Storage Select more This Backup can only be deleted manually then this Backup will be automatically deleted. Only manually can be deleted. Now click on Backup Now, then your current website will be a backup.

Schedule Backup

Here, you enable the Enable backup schedule option, then select how many times you want to keep the backup. I want to have a backup once a day, so I am selecting Daily. You will choose as you wish. Like Database + Files (WordPress Files) and send backups to remote storage (choose this option, the local backup will be deleted after uploading to remote storage completely) and click on Save Changes.

General Settings

In General Settings, we have nothing to do. Backups are retained. Select and enter your email address in the Enable email report. Click Save Changes. We don’t need to change any more settings. It will remain as it is.

Restore WordPress Website

Next, when you need to restore, click the Restore button you want to restore from the Backup and Restore settings and click Retrieve the backup to localhost. Then it will be downloaded to your web server from Google Drive.

After that, if your website is ever a problem or hacked, then delete your website entirely and install WordPress anew. Then install the WPvivid plugin, login to Google Drive, and then restore.

This way, you can easily backup and restore WordPress websites very quickly. Moreover, with this plugin, you can clone & migrate any WordPress website. You don’t have to do anything to colonize. The way to restore will be the same. Just select the new site when restoring.
